MHS girls beat W&L, fall to Warhill

The Mathews High School varsity girls’ basketball team got back on the court this week following winter break, going 1-1 in recent action, losing to Warhill on Friday and defeating Washington and Lee Monday in a pair of home games.

Bomb threat

The first game after break didn’t happen as a bomb threat was called in during last Thursday’s contest at Middlesex High School, forcing the gym to clear during the second quarter with Mathews leading the Chargers at that point, 8-1. That game and the varsity boys’ game that was to follow were both canceled.
