Seven members of the Mathews High School softball team and five from the baseball team were named to the Region 1A teams, it was announced this week.

MHS baseball had two first team All-Region selections: Dawson Adams (third base) and Daniel Moughon (outfield). The team’s four second team All-Region picks were Moughon (this time as a pitcher), Will Jackson (first base), Richie Hogge (shortstop) and Aidan West (outfield).

Three Devils were named first team All-Region in softball: Joice Small (first base), Reese Brock (outfield) and Morgan Crittenden (designated player/flex). Pitcher Emily West, second baseman Christiana Wood and catcher Chelsea Armistead (selected as utility player) earned second-team honors, while Aly Jackson (third base) received honorable mention.

Last week, Small was named All Tidewater District Player of the Year, as well as first team All-District. West, Brock, and shortstop Morgan Crittenden (utility) also got first team All-District.
