MES book fair

Mathews Elementary School held its annual book fair the week of March 11-15. This year’s book fair was reported to be one of the most successful, with many children going home with a new book. Chesapeake Bank donated $500 for the Share the Fair fund that helped many students and teachers. A raffle was also held to benefit Share the Fair; winner Amber Williams received a gift basket with items donated by Nicole Abbitt LMT, YRC Cinemas, The Bay School, Kelly Green (Scentsy consultant) and Brenda Clements (Mary Kay consultant). First grader Hunter Kellum, left, was one of five winners of a Chick-fil-A gift card from the lollipop pull game at the fair. Throughout the fair, MES invited grandparents to eat breakfast with their students, and also visit the fair. At right, MES student Logan Burroughs is shown with grandparents Ruth Ann Hutson and Robert Phaup.
