Next Thursday, Sept. 18, a box lunch fundraiser will be held to support Mathews County Meals on Wheels.
The annual event is held to supplement meal preparation costs for the program. The menu for next week’s fundraiser will consist of chicken salad with crackers, pasta salad, broccoli salad and pound cake. The cost is $15.
They will be delivering to businesses in Mathews and Gloucester and meals will be available for pick up in the fellowship hall of Salem Church, 1099 Salem Church Road, Mathews, between the hours of 10:30 and 11:30 a.m.
“We are especially blessed this year by the generosity of Salem Church Mathews providing the funds for our food costs,” said Nelda Gibbs, who oversees the program. “We are so grateful.”
Meals on Wheels provides nutritious meals to seniors in need. It is also a safety check each day through a volunteer’s regular visit.
