Matt Jackson Jr., 83, of Gloucester, departed this life on Thursday, June 3, 2021. He was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church and retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation. He is survived by his caring wife, Rose; daughters, Lalita and Sherrann Jackson of Gloucester and Shandreka Thomas (Willie Jr.) of Dumfries; stepchildren, Leroy Woodard (Cheryl), Denise Woodard, Renee Mouzon (James) and Eric Woodard (Tonya) of Philadelphia, Pa.; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and colleagues. He had two special friends, his nephew, Kenneth Blake, and lifelong friend, Dwayne Washington.

The viewing will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, June 11, 2021 at J.K. Redmond Funeral Home, Shacklefords. The funeral service will begin at noon, Saturday, June 12, 2021, at Providence Baptist Church, 3501 Providence Road, Hayes. The interment will be in Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, 10256 Indian Road, Gloucester.
