Mathews Relay celebrates 10th anniversary Saturday

The Mathews Relay for Life to benefit the American Cancer Society will be held from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday at Mathews High School. The event will mark the 10th anniversary of the Mathews Relay. The day begins with opening ceremonies at 10 a.m. followed by the survivors’ and caregivers’ laps around the track. The annual dinner for survivors will be held Friday evening at Central United Methodist Church. Survivors who did not receive an invitation are still welcome and can RSVP to Katie Dutton at 725-2227. The relay will feature DJ Will from Montross, a 20-year childhood leukemia survivor who will entertain throughout the day. The relay is also a stop on the Shop Local Day “tour” and anyone who stops by will receive a free Relay for Life tumbler. There will also be a crab-picking contest, an “Amazing Race” event and raffles, in addition to many special laps....
