Applications are now being accepted for this year’s Mathews Christmas Parade, themed “Jingle on the Bay.”Sponsored by the Mathews County Visitor and Information Center (MCVIC), the parade will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13 in downtown Mathews, beginning at Thomas Hunter Middle School on Church Street.
Winners will be chosen in each of the following categories: Civic, Animal, Walking Unit, School, Commercial, Motorized, Church, Parade Theme, and Antique Vehicle.
To obtain an application, drop by MCVIC at Sibley’s Store, 239 Main Street, Mathews, or go online to visitmathews.com/mathews-christmas-parade/. The parade will be held rain or shine, and there is no rain date. Registration is due by Dec. 5. There is no entry fee.
“Talk with your church, friends, neighbors, school or sports groups, businesses or youth groups, and join in the parade,” said a letter from MCVIC Executive Director Kat Larkin. “Be as creative as you like in making a float or other type of entry.”
