Mathews Little League issues appeal for support

After two years without a fundraising campaign, Mathews Little League is now turning to county businesses and the community at large for their support in the coming season.
“Knowing how important our children’s mental and physical health was in 2020, Mathews Little League invited any child in the community to play for free,” a solicitation letter sent out at the end of last month stated. “That could not have happened without the generosity of volunteers and sponsors in our community.
“We had record high registration in 2020, even during the continued battle with COVID-19,” the letter continued. “Given the virus’ impact on the local economy, the board decided not to fundraise for the second year in a row.
Mathews Little League did its best to sustain itself while remaining vigilant to its goals of community development and growth.”
