A special Halloween celebration will be held beginning at 2 p.m. Saturday on Main Street in Mathews.
Hosted by Mathews Memorial Library, with the support of Mathews Main Street Committee, the events will include a variety of activities beginning with a “Goosebumps at the Library” party featuring games, a costume contest, creepy crafts and refreshments.
At 3 p.m., a parade of little ghosts and ghouls will take place on Main Street. Local merchants will create a festive atmosphere with spooky window displays, making them eligible for “best window display” award. During the parade, they will welcome the ghosts and ghouls into their shops for trick-or-treat.
Also enhancing the festive occasion will be a pumpkin-carving contest, with judging held at the library at 3 p.m. Pumpkins for the contest are now available for pick up from the library.
