The Mathews Visitor Center will sponsor a countywide Community Cleanup from 8 a.m. until noon on Saturday, Nov. 8.
In a survey available on its website (visitmathews.com, click on events), the center asks participants to sign up for various areas.
The cleanup will start at the Mathews County Visitor and Information Center at 239 Main Street.
The center will provide snacks and drinks, all equipment to include gloves, bags, vests, grabbers and nets, and route recommendations. It said all groups must be accompanied by an adult and be responsible for its own transportation.
“Pick your own route, or do your Adopt-a-Highway road, or we will have a list of roads for you,” the center said.
It asks that participants keep track of the number of bags collected. Filled bags should be left on the side of the highway for VDOT pickup.
Participants should wear long pants, long sleeves, waterproof boots and gloves. They are asked to return equipment by noon and report their work to the visitor center....
