Mathews candidates on best behavior at final forum

Candidates and audience members were all on their best behavior during Tuesday night’s candidate forum at the Gwynn’s Island Civic League. Not a harsh word was spoken as candidates shared their visions for the future of Mathews.

During the event, moderated by Tyrone Hudgins and Judy Rowe, only written, vetted questions were asked of the candidates, and their answers were generally met with attentive silence.

Rowe opened with the rules of the forum, saying, “We like to run a tight ship,” and establishing time limits on candidates’ introductory remarks and answers. She laid the ground rule that only questions directed to all candidates could be asked, and told audience members that “we don’t want to hear any ugly sounds or comments.”
