Market Days Poster Contest entries being accepted

Entry forms are being accepted for the 2018 Mathews Market Days Poster Contest. Bay School Community Arts Center and the Mathews Market Days Committee are jointly conducting the contest this year.

Mathews Market Days festival is held each year on the Friday and Saturday following Labor Day, and a centerpiece of the festival is the official Market Days Poster—a limited edition, signed and numbered, collectible art print.

The theme of this year’s contest is “Anchored in History … Setting Sail for the Future.” The poster committee encourages each artist to interpret this theme from their own unique perspective.

The poster contest is open to all ages and levels of expertise, according to a release. Contestants do not need to live in Mathews County to enter, and there is no limit to the number of entries submitted by an individual. All media (watercolor, oil, acrylic, photography, etc.), collages or mixed media are accepted. Finished artwork must be 18”x24”, vertical or horizontal.

Entry forms are due by June 15, and artwork must be completed by July 23. For the full prospectus and entry form, visit www.bayschool-arts.com or www.mathewsmarketdays.com or e-mail bayschoolarts@gmail.com or mathewsmarketdays@gmail.com. Information is also available on the two organizations’ Facebook pages.

Entries will be judged in the Art Speaks Gallery at the Bay School Thursday through Saturday, July 26-28, and will be on display for public viewing Aug. 1-18. The poster unveiling and signing reception will be on Saturday, Aug. 18 at the Bay School on Main Street in Mathews.
