Gloucester County invited Main Street businesses to an Information & Networking Meeting last Tuesday, Feb. 24, at the Gloucester Fine Arts Museum where county staff presented on upcoming happenings and businesses provided their feedback. Historic Resources Supervisor Robert Kelly of the Gloucester Museum of History presented the county’s plans to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, as well as the 375th anniversary of Gloucester. “It’s an exciting time,” said Kelly. “We have so much to be proud of.” The museum has a full calendar of events centered around the semiquincentennial, including a big community celebration the weekend of July 4. In September, the county is planning “a history-themed block party” on Main Street to commemorate the 375th with living history, music, food and vendors in conjunction with Gloucester Day. “We’re looking forward to celebrating that day on Sept. 5,” said Kelly.
