A vehicle slid on the ice into a ravine in Gloucester, in the Court House area, off Main Street on Thursday, Jan. 29. The driver was unable to exit the vehicle and return to the roadway due to the icy conditions. Gloucester Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad members set up a low-angle rope rescue haul system and a Stokes basket that allowed the crews to bring the driver safely up to the roadway. This was one of three low-angle rescues performed throughout the region during the treacherous ice conditions....
