Local anglers take home number of citation fish

Local anglers have taken home a number of citation fish in recent weeks, according to the Oct. 27 issue of vasaltwaterjournal.com, which reports on the Virginia Saltwater Fishing Tournament.

Brandon Seidel of Hayes, hooked a citation blueline tilefish weighing 10 pounds, 13 ounces on Oct. 15 at Norfolk Canyon.

Glenn Timberlake of Port Haywood, caught and released a 46-inch red drum on Sept. 30, and on the same day a 47.5-inch red drum caught and released at Buoy 39 in Chesapeake Bay.

Also finding luck at Buoy 39 on Sept. 30 was Gerald L. Morgan Jr. of New Point, who caught and released a 46-inch red drum there.

Four sheepshead citations have been recorded from catches made early last month at Wolf Trap Lighthouse: Michael Scott Whaley of Gloucester, 14-pound, 7-ounce fish on Oct. 3, and a 25-inch fish caught and released there the next day; Charles B. Haywood of Port Haywood, 10-pound, 8-inch sheepshead caught at Wolf Trap Oct. 5; John Tomlinson of Mathews, 11-pound, 8-oun...
