Letter: School board member’s remarks were inappropriate

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

Mathews School Board member, lawyer Bill Johnson’s remarks about a teacher in public tell a lot about the man. He has done this before as printed in this paper a while ago, when another one of his children complained about a teacher.

First of all, there should be a confidentiality clause for members of the board so that talking about teachers in public will bring immediate dismissal. I have long believed that school board members should not have children in the schools while serving. Any adult should realize children often come home with complaints of the day and, if warranted, should be taken up with the teacher.

Hopefully, with the election coming up, the main part of this problem will be taken care of.
