Letter: Point Branch Library received great support

This is a huge thank you to the Gloucester community, businesses, organizations and individuals for your support of the new Point Branch Library in the York River Crossing Shopping Center; especially to the members of the Citizens Committee for the Point Branch—Terri Byrne, Peggy Cooney, Sid Dixon, Nancy Dwoyer, Ralph Johnson, Kitty Martin, Eric Rosenberg, Roger Loring and Montague Haskell—and to director Diane Rebertus and her hard-working library staff.

The fundraising drive began in mid April of 2011, with a goal to raise $85,000. Through the commitment and efforts of the committee, the Gloucester community was made aware of the needs of the Point Branch. While the board of supervisors provided funding for the building, money for equipment and furnishings for the new library had to be raised.
