Letter: Pet Castle run raised $3,600

As coordinators of the third annual Pet Castle Distance Run and Pet Walk at Williams Wharf Landing on April 9, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who helped make this event a great success.

Congratulations to all the runners and pet walkers. Volunteers, this event could not have happened without your help and support. To the dozens of people who raised funds and who contributed funds to sponsor pets and shelter animals, a sincere thank you. Also, many thanks to The Pet Castle and to State Farm agent Josh Junker for their sponsorship of this event. The support services provided by the Mathews Volunteer Rescue Squad and the Mathews County Schools contributed greatly to the safety of the participants. The media promotion and coverage provided by WXGM Radio, Humane Society staff, and this newspaper was essential to the success of this event.
