Letter: Making a difference

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

National Volunteer Week was observed on April 10-16.

As director of the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) for Bay Aging, representing the 10 counties of the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula, I would like to personally thank all 838 RSVP volunteers that give so much to their community. You have made a difference in the county in which you serve.

Bay Aging RSVP volunteers contribute many hours of service delivering meals to the homebound elderly and disabled, assisting at local hospitals, nursing homes, food banks, thrift stores and hospice programs. RSVP volunteers also provide companion services, telephone reassurance, medical transportation and tutoring both adults and children. Many of these community services would not be available without the dedicated efforts and support of these volunteers.

To join RSVP, call Dee Thomas at 758-8853.

Dee Thomas
