Letter: Jones knows problems of overregulation first hand

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

Overregulation, propelled by inflated bureaucracy, misdiagnosed with additional legislation, is a full employment program for government employees. This includes those dispensing unemployment benefits to those jobless who enjoy the comfort zone. Those of us who "must eat our peas" are reminded of our duty to perpetuate the "goodness."

Catesby Jones comes to grips with this syndrome every day of his business life. He watches manufacturers and start-ups, stultified by senseless obstruction, depart for foreign shores only to be vilified by the authors who drove them there. The only housing market that prospers surrounds Washington, D.C.

Thomas Jefferson said his study of history revealed that problems arise from too much government, rather than too little. Catesby can make the point, and his vision of our future is excavating our way out of the deepening volcanic caldera that’s looking back at us.
