Letter: Her guardian angels

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

Recently, I was involved in an automobile accident that could have resulted in casualties. Days later, when that near-death experience turned into reality, my first vision was that of the two young men of the United States Coast Guard and the men and women of the Mathews Volunteer Rescue Squad who became my guardian angels that day. Their response to my accident was so swift and efficient that, to this day, I am overwhelmed with love and appreciation.

The Virginia State Troopers, however, are at the top of my angel list. As Officer Morris explained to me what was to occur, his tone of voice and the kind expression on his face was that of a family member and I will be forever grateful that he was my guardian angel throughout that horrific ordeal.

It goes without saying that God was good to all of us that day. But, when you look at it, God is good to us every day. Specifically, He blessed my fellow motorists in the area of the accident, He blessed the others involved, and He blessed me—not just for sending me Officer Morris, but for keeping me under His watchful grace.

So, whenever you happen to wish someone Merry Christmas, you could also say “and God bless you.” Take it from me, He really will!

Merry Christmas, and God bless you.
