Letter: Entitlement changes are necessary

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

Several programs—Social Security and Medicare/Medicaid—have become ingrained parts of our daily lives that none of us wants to lose. Yet both must be modified substantially if they are to remain viable and fundamental parts of our economic lives. If they persist in their present forms, they will bankrupt all of us, instead of providing the support we have come to expect.

My question is, which of the many proposals for the reform of Social Security and Medicare/Medicaid would the residents of Mathews and Gloucester feel could be made with the least personal damage to them?
