Letter: ‘A beautiful night on the East River’

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

On behalf of the Mathews Land Conservancy, I would like to thank all who attended the first annual "Party at the Wharf" held last Friday at Williams Wharf Landing. It was a beautiful night on the East River with a full moon and moderate temperatures.

Groove Tide, a 10-piece horn band out of Yorktown, kept the crowds on their feet dancing the night away. Special thanks go out to Rappahannock Concrete and M&M Building Supply for helping to sponsor the event.

Events like this one and so many others in this county that are run by the various civic, school and non-profit organizations make Mathews a fun and vibrant place to live and visit. Your attendance and support of these events help all of those organizations continue on their respective missions.

Thank you! Our next event is the fifth annual Wharf to Wharf Swim this Sunday at 1 p.m.
