Mathews County Public Schools invited local, state and federal representatives to take part in a tour of the division’s facilities last Thursday morning. The day began with a tour of Thomas Hunter Middle School and Mathews Elementary, guided by MES principal Cindy Gray, at left, who recently took on the oversight of the county’s middle school. County supervisors, school board members, Del. Keith Hodges (R-Urbanna) and representatives from the offices of Rep. Rob Wittman and U.S. Sen. Mark Warner were on hand, as Gray (top photo, at left) discussed the needs of the two schools. Below, Mathews High School principal Drew Greve, at right, talks about the school’s vision for an expanded outdoor athletic facility.
