Legion Riders to take part in statewide run this weekend

The Virginia In State Legacy Run, a motorcycle run endorsed by the American Legion Department of Virginia, will begin today and continue through Saturday, starting in Gloucester and ending in Strasburg.

The goal of the run, part of the National Legacy Scholarship Ride, is to raise scholarship money for the sons and daughters of service personnel nationwide either killed or disabled more than 50 percent while on active duty since 9/11. All money raised will be donated in the name of the Department of Virginia Legion Riders to the fund.

The route will be a two-day ride around Virginia visiting numerous American Legion posts. This year the route will start at American Legion Post 75 in Gloucester and end at the Virginia Riders Rally in Strasburg on Saturday.

Participants will start arriving around 2 o’clock today where they will receive individual information packages and make any last-minute registrations. There will be a donated catered dinner that evening, followed by a safet...
