Lecture, classes offered at Arts on Main

Arts on Main has a number of activities planned in the coming weeks at the gallery, located at 6590 Main Street, Gloucester.

On Saturday, Jan. 13, artist Kathy Klein will participate in Artist Talk, an Arts on Main program, at 4 p.m. Her work is currently on display in the Arts on Main exhibition “Climate Catastrophes.”

The following weekend, Anne Atkinson will offer a class on creating papier-mâché masks. It will be held from 4:30-6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 19 and 20.

Students ages 10 and older will explore the meaning of the word “mask” and learn about how indigenous peoples in the Americas and Africa have celebrated their heritage through music and art Masks are essential to the observations of tradition as part of their dances.

The cost per student is $40. All supplies will be provided by the instructor.

Finally, paper artist Ronda Bowden will teach a class on techniques to create realistic and whimsical flowers with paper from 1–3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 20...
