Late-season catches earn citations

Late-season catches have earned citations in the Virginia Saltwater Fishing Tournament for four local anglers, as recorded in the Dec. 22 issue of vasaltwaterjournal.com.

Curtis Willis of Cobbs Creek, won a citation for a 46-inch rockfish caught and released on Dec. 14 while trolling in the upper Chesapeake Bay.

Three speckled trout also earned citations for the following: William W. Flippin of Bena, 25-inch fish caught and released Dec. 10 in the James River; Tyler Stone of Gloucester, 26-inch fish caught and released Dec. 1 in the lower York River; and Robert James Matney of Gloucester, 5-pound, 12-ouncer caught Dec. 2 in the Rappahannock River.
