The Gloucester High School varsity softball team defeated the Bethel Bruins and the Heritage Hurricanes this past week.
The Lady Dukes defeated Bethel, 17-0, last Wednesday, May 8, on the road. Autumn Cookson (11-0) pitched a two-hit shutout. She struck out 14 out of 15 batters and went to a three-ball count on only two hitters.
Gloucester took a 6-0 lead after the first inning as Alivia Bruce and Grace Sinko-Vanliew each produced RBI triples. Kaia Hutton had a two-RBI double, while Kayla Pasipanki had an RBI double. Pasipanki contributed an additional double, while Cookson also had a double. Samantha Carlton and Bruce each had two RBIs in the win.
Heritage
Gloucester also defeated Heritage, 22-0, last Thursday at home. Bruce threw a no-hitter, striking out 12 batters. She also contributed two hits and two RBIs.
