Lady Dukes 1-2 in last week of season

The Gloucester High School varsity girls’ basketball team suffered two losses and gained one win during its last week of regular season gameplay.

The Lady Dukes fell, 51-38, to Heritage last Thursday on the road. Autumn Cookson led Gloucester with the most baskets, totaling 21 points. Aaliyah Smith-Boone scored four points, followed by Addison Hoover with three and Chloe Davis, Carter Flippin, Hannah Horsley, Kate Vannoy and Alyssa Wilson with two points each.

In rebounds, Horsley led the Lady Dukes with 10. Davis recorded five, followed by Smith-Boone with four, Vannoy with three, Cookson, Hoover, Wilson and Alesha Williams with two apiece and Flippin with one.

Davis led in the team’s assists with a total of three. Both Cookson and Wilson had two, while Flippin had one. Cookson and Horsley recorded three steals, followed by Hoover with two and Flippin with one. Davis and Flippin also recorded one block each.

Phoebus

The Lady Dukes hosted Phoebus on Monday and defeated the Phantoms, 51-28. Cookson again led the Lady Dukes in points, scoring a total of 13. Flippin scored 11, followed by Horsley with 10, Smith-Boone with six, Hannah Mullis with four, Wilson with three, Vannoy with two and Hoover and Williams with one point each.

Horsley led Gloucester in rebounds with a total of 13, followed by Vannoy with six, Davis and Flippin with five and Hoover and Wilson with four each. Cookson, Mullis and Smith-Boone each recorded three rebounds apiece, while Williams had one. As a team, the Lady Dukes recorded a whopping 47 rebounds.

In assists, Flippin and Vannoy had three each, Davis and Horsley had two and Cookson and Smith-Boone had one assist apiece. Leading in steals was Horsley with seven, followed by Cookson with six, Flippin with four, Davis, Vannoy and Williams with two and Smith-Boone with one. Hoover also recorded one block.

In the last game of the regular season, the Lady Dukes fell to the Woodside Wolverines, 63-38, on their home court.
