Knights play Falcons

The Gloucester Youth Football and Cheer League faced off against the York-Seaford Falcons on Oct. 22.
The Gloucester Red Mighty Mites defeated the Falcons, 18-0. Tyrell Daisy won the offensive MVP trophy with 97 yards and scoring two touchdowns. Durrall Daisy had 38 yards and scored one touchdown. Alijah Pluim won the offensive lineman of the game trophy.

The defense was led by Xavier Broughman with seven tackles and one sack. Jamari Wilson had four tackles, one sack and recovered a forced fumble; Tyrell had five tackles and recovered a fumble; Pluim had six tackles; Declan Schneider had four tackles; Ayden Harris had four tackles and won the defensive MVP trophy; and Caleb Beyer won the defensive lineman of the game trophy.

The Knights 12U team also won against the Falcons in a forfeit, because a player on the York-Seaford team was the wrong age. Lamont Frazier rushed for 60 yards, scored one touchdown, had 10 tackles and earned the MVP defensive player award. Evan McNulty rushed for 100 yards, had nine tackles and earned the MVP offensive player award.

Matthew Pryor had six tackles; Brendan Zimmerman had five tackles and earned the MVP defensive lineman award; Ethan Stotts had five tackles and earned the MVP offensive lineman award; Julian Mikkelson had five tackles; Anthony Starks and Noah Potter had four tackles each; Isaiah Davenport had three tackles; and Matthew Hensley, Jaxx Carneal and Aiden Lewis all had two tackles each.

The Red Mites beat the Falcons, 14-6. The offense was led by Tyler Washington and Zayden Pluim, who both scored one touchdown each. Rylee Hogge scored two extra points. The defense was led by Jayceon Stokes, Washington, Leo Collier and Bryce Green.

The Knights Minis flag football team fell to the Falcons, 20-0. Landan Lopez led the offense for the Knights with 20 yards on the ground and five through the air. Gabriel Franklin gained 10 yards rushing and Adorian Lee added a five-yard reception. The defense was led by Jamere Wilson-Thomas who had six tackles. Bryce Newkirk, Hunter Seltzer, Lee, Easton Rasmussen and Aiden Collins all recorded tackles.

Abbi Hamilton was named most spirited for the 14U cheer team over the weekend. Zarheia Couvington had the best technique.

Mallorie Coates of the 14U team received the title of homecoming queen. Genesis Pluim received queen for 6U, Saniah Ivey was named queen for 8U and Madelynn Lewis was crowned queen for 10U.

Titans

The Gloucester Knights faced the Deer Park Titans over the weekend in the last regular game day of the season.

The Red Mites fell to the Titans, 26-13. The offense was led by Washington and Keane Barnett, who each scored one touchdown. The defense was led by Aziah Pluim, Hunter Bishop and Barnett.

The Red Knights Minis also fell to the Titans, 14-7. Mason Ernsting led the Knights offense with 25 rushing yards, while Wilson-Thomas and Lee each added 15 rushing yards. Lopez, Louie Prosser and Jackson Trexler also logged carries for the Knights. Lee returned an interception for a touchdown. Defensively, Seltzer led the way with six tackles. Newkirk, Collins, Franklin and Rasmussen also recorded tackles.

The Red Mighty Mites lost to the Titans, 25-0. Tyrell Daisy led the offense with 52 yards on the ground and threw a 12-yard pass, which was caught by Wilson. Durrall Daisy rushed for 14 yards and Frazier rushed for 13. Broughman led the defense with seven tackles, three sacks and a fumble recovery. Schneider had five tackles, one sack and recovered a fumble; Brayden Mikkelson had three tackles and two sacks; Caiden Baumgardner and Camden Pluim had three tackles each; and Aaron Green recorded one tackle and recovered an onside kick.

Playoffs

The Gloucester Knights 8U and 10U football teams will participate in playoffs Saturday against the 8U Tri Citi Hurricanes and the 10U Deer Park Titans at the Gloucester Transportation fields. The 8U game begins at 9:30 a.m. and the 10U game begins at 12:30 p.m.
