K of C tournament benefits veterans, families

The Dave Marchant Memorial Virginia Veterans Tournament was held on Sept. 16 at Piankatank River Golf Club in Hartfield, hosted by the local Fourth Degree Order of the Knights of Columbus.

The event, the ninth in a series, honors Marchant, who led the assembly at the time of his death in 2020. Proceeds benefit the all-volunteer Virginia Veterans Services Foundation which in turn partners with the Virginia Department of Veterans Services. Together they address the needs of those who have served and their families.

Tournament director Al Langer reported that the event was very successful because of strong player turnout, loyal sponsors and donors, a great golf course, and eager volunteers. He thanked the community for its support and praised the PRGC staff for again providing such outstanding service.
