Jones wins heavyweight class at Toys for Tots tourney

Gloucester High School varsity wrestlers competed in the Mike Duman Toys for Tots Tournament on Thursday and Friday. The Dukes placed 11th out of 30 teams, just missing a top 10 finish by two points.

Leading the way for the Dukes was J.R. Jones (heavyweight) who kept his undefeated season intact securing the championship by way of fall.

Also battling for the Dukes to the podium were Joey Foley (215), Corey Skay (132) and Ty Baker (126). Foley and Skay wrestled strong on Friday night earning a guaranteed placement by winning through the championship rounds into the semifinals, both finishing fourth, while Baker earned a podium spot after competing through the consolation round.

Other Dukes that competed in the tournament were Christian Hartz (120), Karl Dean (144) and Colby Morris (HWT). Each fell a round short of placement.
