HRSD pump station exterior to be completed later this year

The new pump station being erected on Mathews Main Street by the Hampton Roads Sanitation Division is due for completion sometime next March, but residents will know what the finished product will look like sooner than that.

According to Rodney Bozzell, site supervisor for the contractor, Shaw Construction of Yorktown, construction of the exterior brick walls is set to begin in early October and is expected to be completed about a month later, after which the steel roof will be installed. He said the building, which is being built next to Moughons Hardware, will have no wood at all.

Ring, general superintendent with Shaw Construction, said that the concrete basement that was put in place in mid-August is approximately 25 feet wide along the road and 31 feet deep along the parking lot that will be shared with Moughons.
