Homeplace atmosphere leads to bounty in the garden and creativity in the kitchen

Although born in Lynchburg, Judith Gail Williams’s route to her present residence, a 45-acre farm in the Hayes area of Gloucester, has been an interesting trip.

“My father and mother, Cecil Harvey Williams Jr. and Mary Dale Williams, moved to Newport News in 1966-1972, then we moved into this house my dad had built, except for plumbing and electrical work. I lived here until I was married in 1990. My family dates back to the 1600s. My grandfather was born in the house next to Endfield. The Catletts gave this property as a wedding present to someone in my family who married a Catlett in the early 1800s. The road was built in 1811.”

During Judith’s years of marriage she lived in Hampton and later in Williamsburg and had three sons, Kyle, Kendall and Kirk. Along with motherhood, Judith taught school, a profession she continues today, while rearing her children and keeping up with her art work (“flowers and birds”) which she also continues today.
