Hole in the Wall restaurant issue dominates yet another BOS meeting

The Mathews County Board of Supervisors met last Thursday to continue its July 17 regular monthly meeting, and the hot topic was once again the Hole in the Wall Waterfront Grill on Gwynn’s Island.
During the prior meeting, the board’s 3-2 decision to evict the restaurant from county-owned property drew a large crowd that had a lot to say, pushing the meeting over the board’s self-imposed time limit.
With supervisors’ comments near the top of agenda, supervisor Dave Jones launched a rebuttal of a presentation made by supervisor Tom Bowen during the prior meeting, using photos taken by the restaurant’s former tenants, the Valdrighi family, to claim that Bowen had misrepresented the condition the building was left in by the previous tenant, Garry Galluzzi, and providing evidence to suggest that the board’s recent actions were similar to the actions taken by a prior board against Galluzzi.
