Hole in the Wall Waterfront Grill was granted a preliminary injunction in court on Friday morning, allowing the Gwynn’s Island restaurant to reopen after it was evicted two weeks ago by the Mathews County Board of Supervisors for not paying its annual rent on time.
Judge William H. Shaw III (ret.), sitting in Gloucester Circuit Court, heard the Mathews case. A trial on the merits of the case has been scheduled for Oct. 23 at 9:30 a.m., according to the Virginia Courts Case Information website.
Restaurant owner Mac Casale said he’s relieved that the court “saw it our way” and that he looks forward to “a full hearing on the damages.”
Casale said the county was ordered to provide access to the building today, and he hopes to be able to reopen tomorrow, Saturday, July 26.
