Herbert “Herb” Dehnert passed away on Feb. 7, 2022 at the age of 94. Herbert was born on May 4, 1927 in Rockville Centre, New York. He was married to the love of his life, Kathryn, in 1957. In 1958 they moved to Mathews, Virginia, where they lived the remainder of their lives and raised their family. Herb served in the Coast Guard in WWII on the USS Wakefield. He worked as the chief engineer for Gulf Oil. He was an avid reader, loved boats, trains, the water and always took joy in just talking to anyone who had a story to tell.

He was preceded in death by his soul mate, Kathryn.

He is survived by his three children, Charles, Theresa and Christine; nine grandchildren, Christina, Christopher, Steven, Brian, Nichole, Willie, Heather, Lauren, and Katelyn, and seven great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, Feb. 18, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Faulkner Funeral Homes, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, Mathews. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
