Hearing tonight on Flat Iron Crossroads performance venue

The Gloucester Planning Commission will hold a public hearing virtually tonight on a conditional use permit application seeking to modify the conditions of approval for the special exception application for the Ray Friend Event Facility located at 7709 Flat Iron Road.

The applicant, Raymond Friend, requested the CUP to use the property as an event facility with modified conditions of approval. The 2.006-acre property is currently functioning as an event facility through a special exception under the definition of “Recreation and Amusement Enterprise.”

The property is zoned B-4, Rural business and is located at the intersection of Flat Iron Road (Route 690) and Daffodil Lane (Route 693) and across from Brent and Becky’s Bulbs.

Friend indicated he would like to modify the conditions of use to be able to hold outdoor events and to allow the maximum number of attendees be determined by the building code instead of the 150 maximum attendee limit detailed in the special exception.
