Heading to VCU

On Saturday, Gloucester High School’s competition cheer team participated in the 5B Regional Competition. The GHS girls competed against five other teams in the first round, having to place in the top four in order to move on to Round 2. Gloucester finished Round 1 in fourth place. During Round 2, the top four teams competed for a chance to advance to the VHSL State Cheerleading Championship. The GHS girls fought hard, adding 22 points to their score sheet and came home as the Region 5B Championship runner-up, earning a spot in the State Competition at VCU on Nov. 5. This may be the first time a Gloucester competition cheer squad has made it this far, according to coach Carlee Hanchak. Shown here are, back row from left, Hanchak, Abby Littlefield, Makayla Burmeister, Marissa Pelfrey, Kayla Pasipanki, Emily Waddles, Aniya Carter; middle row, Haylee Hartleben, Kayhla Winston, Skylar Klaiss, Jovie Seal and, in front, Arrybella Siddons.
