Hayes resident Rick Shutt competed last weekend in the PPA n2grate DC Open Pickleball Tournament, which was held in College Park, Maryland. Shutt and his partner, Burdette Gatten of Franklin, won the bronze medal in Men’s Doubles age 60+, 3.5 level.

Pickleball is a fast-growing sport across the country. Professional matches that took place at this tournament were aired on CBS Saturday and Sunday as interest in the sport has increased tremendously. The Tennis Channel has also devoted several time slots to broadcast matches of the pros.
