The Guinea Heritage Association has a month full of events planned leading up to the group’s signature fall event, the Guinea Jubilee.
The celebration kicks off this Saturday when the Guinea Jubilee Pageant is held at Buck’s Store Museum, Bena, with this year’s Queen, Junior Miss and Little Miss crowned. The pageant begins at 3:30 p.m.
The winners will be announced at the Guinea Jubilee opening ceremony and will represent the GHA at events held throughout the year.
The following Saturday, Sept. 6, the GHA will hold the Achilles Student Art Contest Awards. Barbara Priest will announce the winners at 11 a.m. at Buck’s Store Museum. The winning artwork will be on display throughout September at Buck’s.
On Saturday, Sept. 13, the GHA will hold its Cake Sale at the museum. The annual sale features local bakers. Each of the cakes will have a starting price, with donations welcome. All profits made will support the GHA and its educational programs. The sale will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m....
