Grand opening Saturday for Dollar General in Hudgins

The new Dollar General store at Hudgins opened Thursday, with more than 100 people stopping by between 5 and 10 p.m., said store manager Sondra Motz. On Friday, a steady stream of customers continued to drop in.

A grand opening is planned for this Saturday during the store’s regular hours, said Motz. The store will be open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

During the grand opening, there will be $10 store gift cards for the first few customers, and free Dollar General tote bags and cups will be handed out. There will also be raffle giveaways from a number of vendors, said Motz, including lunch bag coolers and other items. Sheriff Mark Barrick will be on hand to cut the ribbon, she said.

Chris Coffman, district manager for Dollar General, said he had planned to open the store last Wednesday, but weather caused delays. The new store is larger than the Dollar General in Mathews Court House, he said, adding that the older store will remain open, as well.
