A crowd gathered at the Ware River Yacht Club on Sunday to participate in the Gloucester Mathews Care Clinic’s ninth annual Oktoberfest. The Original Elbe Musikanten Band provided live entertainment as guests enjoyed warm temperatures and sunny skies. Traditional German fare was prepared by Chef Brian Marshall. Marshall is shown here with GMCC supporters Roberta Apple, Darcy O’Neil, Gary O’Neil, Nancy Choquette, the Rev. Sven vanBaars, Tom Ariail and Sherry Ariail, seated from left, who got the chance to enjoy the food and support a good cause. Over 110 attended this year’s Oktoberfest, and together raised about $52,000 for patient care at the clinic. On Sunday, the following Clinic Heroes were recognized: Charry Hudgins, a longtime GMCC staff member who retired in 2022 only to return as the clinic’s outreach coordinator; clinic volunteer Gerald Britt; Chesapeake Bank, and Sentara Health System.
