Gloucester woman charged in mother’s stabbing death

A Gloucester woman was arrested early Tuesday morning and charged with the stabbing death of her mother. 

According to the Gloucester Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a residence in the 1600 block of Abingdon Lane regarding a reported homicide just before 2 a.m. Tuesday. Abingdon Lane is off Little England Road in the Bena area. 

Upon arrival at the residence, deputies found the homeowner, 72-year-old Marsha Joan Pohorence, dead inside her bedroom. The GSO said its investigation revealed that the victim’s daughter, 29-year-old Christa Joanne Pohorence, had allegedly stabbed her mother to death.

The GSO said Christa Pohorence, who reported the homicide, was subsequently arrested on scene and charged with second degree murder and stabbing while in the commission of a felony. She is currently being held without bond; the investigation is ongoing. ...
