Gloucester softball splits pair of games

The Gloucester High School varsity softball team suffered one loss and celebrated one win on the road this past week.Friday afternoon, the GHS team fell to the Churchland Truckers, 7-6. The Lady Dukes could muster only four hits the whole game. The Lady Truckers gained four runs in the first inning and led, 5-0, before Gloucester’s Kaia Hutton drove in Samantha Carlton in the third inning.
Gloucester trailed Churchland, 7-1, after five innings, but began to gain momentum in the next two innings. The Lady Dukes scored two runs in the sixth inning and three more in the seventh to close the gap to 7-6. However, the Lady Dukes ended there with the bases loaded. Hutton, Carlton, Grace Saunders and Sadie Bowden each had an RBI for the game.
Bethel
After Friday’s tough loss, the Lady Dukes came back with a shutout win against the Bethel Bruins, 11-0, Tuesday afternoon.
