Gloucester Rowing Club debuts in Philadelphia Youth Regatta

The newly created Gloucester Rowing Club competed at its first event as a team at the Philadelphia Youth Regatta on July 16. Taking just 12 athletes, the rowers put together three respectable lineups for the races in Philadelphia.

First was the junior 16 double of Hannah Cagle and Brianna Priode who finished fifth in their heat, five seconds behind their competition. The girls put together a good race and gained vital experience in racing.

The junior 16 four of Jacob Cheatham, Joel Kidd, Ryan Brooks, Logan Hutson and coxswain Kyle Mielnik finished fourth in their heat and based on their time overall, advanced to the final where they finished sixth. They had to adjust to a new rower, new lineup, and a new program, but performed well and learned what they need to work on to progress.
Also competing, the junior 16 four of Libby Forehand, Caitlyn Parr, Emily Freudenberg, Taylor Lovelady and coxswain Megan Martin, finished third in their heat and advanced to the final where they fin...
