Gloucester planners vote to recommend event center CUP

The Gloucester Planning Commission unanimously voted to recommend approval of a conditional use permit application seeking to modify the conditions of approval for the special exception application for the Ray Friend Event Facility located at 7709 Flat Iron Road to allow for outside performances.

The decision came during a meeting last Thursday held virtually.

The property is zoned B-4 Rural business, and is located at the intersection of Flat Iron Road (Route 690) and Daffodil Lane (Route 693) and across from Brent and Becky’s Bulbs.

The applicant, Raymond Friend, requested the CUP to use the property as an event facility with modified conditions of approval. The 2.006-acre property is currently functioning as an event facility through a special exception under the definition of “Recreation and Amusement Enterprise.”
