Gloucester Knights kick off season

The Gloucester Red Knights Minis flag football team won its first game of the season on Saturday, defeating Tidewater Dawgs, 14-6.

Landon Lopez opened the game’s scoring, rushing for a 25-yard touchdown, with Easton Rasmussen catching the 2-point conversion from a pass from Bryce Newkirk. Before half-time, the Dawgs scored but were unable to tie the game thanks to a defensive stop from Gabriel Franklin. At the start of the second half Adorian Lee scored the Knights’ second touchdown on an 18-yard run to seal the game.

MITES: The Gloucester Red Knights Mites also faced the Tidewater Dawgs, winning 28-12. Offensive leaders were Zayden Pluim who scored twice and Tyler Washington and Leo Collier who scored once each. Rylee Hogge scored four extra points. The defense was led by Robert Hayes Jr. and Keanne Barnett who each had six tackles and a fumble recovery a piece. Jayecon Richardson recorded five tackles and Hunter Bishop had four tackles.
