Newport News resident Elaine Johnson has been hired as Gloucester County’s Director of Human Resources. She will report for her first day with the county on Oct. 15 and will be paid an annual salary of $108,842.

Johnson has over 27 years of experience and expertise in personnel and human resource management, having most recently served as Acting Human Resources Director for the City of Newport News. Prior to that, she worked in the private sector as a senior consultant on HR Enterprise Resource Planning implementations, leveraging her vast experience in both education and local county government human resources roles, according to a release.

Her experience in these roles range from Payroll Specialist and Manager to Benefits Manager, Employee Services Manager, Assistant Director and ultimately to Director of Human Resources in Wake County, North Carolina.
