GHS wrestlers go 2-3 at Billy Martin Duals

The Gloucester High School varsity wrestling team competed in the Billy Martin Duals at Granby High School on Saturday where the team finished seventh overall in the tournament.

The Dukes fell to Granby High School, 34-44, Kings Fork High School, 30-54, and Hickory High School, 35-42. The Dukes won against Salem High School, 23-48, and Smithfield High School, 30-42.

In the duals, Corey Skay (132), Joey Foley (215) and J.R. Jones (heavyweight) both left the day undefeated and each won three of their five matches by fall the other two were won via forfeit.

Ty Baker (126) won two matches by fall, one by major decision, one via forfeit and lost one match by fall. Gage Herrington (165) won three of four matches on the day, two via fall and one via forfeit with his one loss coming via fall.

Another impressive performance came from Aiden Sheesley (106) who won two matches by fall and two by forfeit.
